Softly stunning and surprisingly smooth, our Wool Absolute has a rich, animalic-musky aroma with notes of sweet dried fruit, resins, and creamy-salicylated warmth along with boozy, fatty, and gourmand nuances and excellent tenacity. This special offering for natural perfumers is solvent extracted from a by-product of the agricultural industry, sheep’s wool collected from healthy, living, farmed sheep. The result is a gorgeous, affordable animalic material that offers unique bucolic facets for your Oud accords, musk bases, chypre, gourmand, and fantasy perfume compositions.

Our Wool Absolute is ethanol extracted at our production facility in southern France from the water remaining after the washing of wool. Through this upcycling process, we’re able to create an easily accessible, sustainable alternative to animal-derived materials such as deer musk, civet, or castoreum.

The primary constituents found in Wool Absolute are saturated fatty acids – palmitic and stearic, found in palm oil and animal fats, as well as pentadecanoic acid, found in full-fat dairy products and known to have a creamy, fatty, and slightly waxy aroma. These help give Wool Absolute its soft, honey-like texture and silky feel. Cosmetic formulators may want to experiment with incorporating this material into body care products.
