Product Overview

Our Dancy Tangerine essential oil has a delightful fragrance – sparkling, fresh, sweet, and tangy with a bright, zesty citrus note similar to and more subtle than Mandarin. It comes direct from a producer in Florida, established in 1985, with access to some of the freshest fruit available. The Dancy variety is considered to be one of the oldest Tangerines grown in Florida, via Tangiers, Morocco. By some reports, this tree was planted as early as 1867 in the groves of a Colonel F. L. Dancy, to whom the name is attributed.

Historically, Tangerine essential oil has been one of the citrus components in the many variations of the popular Eau de Cologne first developed in the early 1700s[1]; modern perfumers often use it to provide 'lift' and, as perfumer Christine Nagel states, for its "fizzy, joyful, luminous effect in a fragrance."[2]  The low molecular weight of citrus oils such as Tangerine, along with a limonene dominant composition, make for a beautiful and effective top note in natural perfumery.

One of the best applications for all citrus peel oils is in the diffuser, where their uplifting aromas and air freshening powers truly shine. The aroma of Tangerine is cheerful and inspiring in a diffuser, yet it can invoke an ambiance of tranquility and peace in night time blends. It is well suited in massage blends, leg and foot lotions, linen sprays, belly rubs, and in skincare preparations for oily or congested skin.
