Product Overview

Our organic Scotch Pine oil, distilled in Bulgaria, rings of the forest with its strong, fresh, dry-balsamic and turpentine-like aroma and its distinctive, sweet-coniferous top note. It is distilled from the needles of Pinus sylvestris – the only indigenous Pine in northern Europe.[1]

The scent of Pine is one of the most recognizable aromas, found in a multitude of household cleaning products, commonly (and sadly) as an artificial version of true Pine needle oil.

Coniferous trees in general – Pine, Spruce, Fir – are the guardian trees of our planet with their specific refreshing, cleansing constituents. What we find in Scotch Pine essential oil is a complex array of simple monoterpene hydrocarbons; in addition to the ubiquitous and typical α- and β-pinenes, a considerable amount of limonene is also present, normally the bright and elevating feature of Citrus peel oils. Monoterpene hydrocarbons are among the essential oil constituents with the most pronounced refreshing and tonifying effects.

In a diffuser, Scotch Pine essential oil elevates the spirit with the freshness of the delicious air found amongst the stately trees of Pine forests. Traditionally, Native Americans have used the needles and young shoots of Pinus sylvestris trees stuffed into bedding – the aromatic needles releasing α-pinenes as they slept. The aroma of this tranquil, fragrant experience can be simulated by preparing a dilution of Scotch Pine essential oil in spring water/alcohol to spray on mattresses, linens, curtains, or pillows.
