Solubility & Blending Suggestions

  • Handling Difficulty: ADVANCED. This product is a thick, tacky/sticky, transparent liquid that must be slowly heated to become pourable.
  • Completely soluble in fixed (carrier) oils with minimal heating.
  • Cloudiness may occur when diluted with 190 proof alcohol. Will clarify upon standing after 1-2 days with a small amount of sediment at the bottom, leaving a perfectly clear (non-cloudy) portion that can be decanted for filtering, if desired. Please see our FAQ section for details.

    Product Overview

Mimosa Absolute has a soft, sweet-powdery, honey-like, deep floral aroma with gentle green and woody back notes. Powerful, intimate, and alluring for all genders, the sunny yellow blossoms of Mimosa offer a soft, sweet fragrance that heralds the joyful beginning of spring. It is prized in perfumery as a powdery floral heart note with fixative properties that adds naturalness and lift to compositions. In a very unusual pairing, Mimosa is featured in Annick Goutal’s Eau de Charlotte, where it compliments both Black Currant Bud and Cacao absolutes.[1]

Mimosa Absolute is extracted from the fresh blossoms of Acacia dealbata, a small evergreen tree native to Australia and naturalized in north and central Africa; it is cultivated in Italy, India, Morocco [2], and in the south of France, where the trees have been cultivated since about 1839.[3] We are very pleased to offer this high-quality absolute from a supplier who guarantees complete traceability – from the plants that grow wild on their land to their nearby extraction facility – as part of their commitment to sustainable development.[4]

As of November 2020, Mimosa (Acacia dealbata) is now one of around 30 botanicals designated as part of the new Protected Geographical Indication of the Pays de Grasse region in southeastern France (IG Pays de Grasse), a national certification that highlights regionally important and/or historic aromatic plants. [5,6] Celebrating the importance of women’s accomplishments, Mimosa flowers have also become a traditional gift given on International Women’s Day, March 8, as a symbol of strength, sensibility and sensitivity. [7]

DILUTION NOTE: Mimosa Absolute is completely soluble in fixed (carrier) oils with minimal heating; however, cloudiness may occur when this absolute is diluted with 190 proof alcohol. Upon standing, this will clarify in a day or two with a small amount of sediment at the bottom, leaving a perfectly clear (non-cloudy) portion that can be decanted for filtering if desired.
