Product Overview

Our organic Black Cumin CO2 is a USDA, NOP certified organic fatty carrier oil extracted from the seeds of Nigella sativa; this highly nourishing oil contains dozens of skin-loving constituents, including an impressive amount of antioxidants and a high content of essential fatty acids (Omega-3, -6, and -9).[1] Emollient and fortifying, it is used as part of a carrier oil blend to benefit the skin in a multitude of applications.[2],[3]  Note: contains 0.1% of organic Rosemary Antioxidant CO2 to help maintain freshness.

This unrefined, filtered CO2 Total extract contains approximately 5.1% essential oil that is naturally-occurring in these aromatic seeds. Thymoquinone, an important constituent of Black Cumin oil, has a wide spectrum of favorable effects. Responding to customer demand, our supplier has been able to nearly triple thymoquinone content to approximately 3% by increasing density and quality of seed.[4] Black Cumin oil’s many uses have earned Nigella the Arabic title of respect - Habbatul barakah - meaning the 'seed of blessing'.[5]

Please note that the low temperature CO2 extraction process (up to 104˚F/40˚C) for carrier oils ensures a product that more closely resembles that which is found in the raw plant material and has a longer shelf life than cold processed carrier oils.[6] In addition, CO2 carrier oils meet strict heavy metal requirements and contain no carbohydrates, protein, or inorganic salts.[7]

Our organic Black Cumin CO2 contains 0.1% of organic Rosemary Antioxidant CO2 to help maintain freshness.

Up to 10% Black Cumin CO2 blended into another carrier oil(s) is recommended for topical and cosmetic use. [8] It is useful in formulations for foot care, joint and muscle rubs, scalp and hair conditioners, dry and mature skin, after-sun care, and overactive skin.

I can't remember what I expected when I ordered this oil. Maybe I envisioned something mild and unobtrusive like poppy seeds from a bagel. I was wrong. This oil has a very dense peppery character. Blends beautifully. Just be prepared. This one aint no wall flower. = )
