But beyond the celebrations and feel-good moments, sustainability is something Eden Botanicals believes in practicing every single day. It’s about treading lightly, minimizing waste, honoring nature’s rhythms, and making choices that help nurture and protect our world.
And although each ingredient we carry is ethically sourced, this Earth Day we’re shining a light on the stories behind a few of our most cherished, sustainably produced oils. With a very rich, sweet, woody, warm and balsamic aroma, Atlas Cedarwood is both grounding and soulful. Due to overharvesting, Atlas Cedar trees are now considered endangered. Our Cedarwood, Atlas - Wild essential oil is produced at our extraction facility in Morocco, made exclusively from upcycled wood shavings and sawdust from the lumber industry. As a by-product of Morocco’s strictly regulated logging industry, we’ve ensured no trees are felled for its production. As one of the earliest known distilled oils, Cedarwood, Atlas - Wild brings a meditative, introspective quality to perfumes, aromatherapy, and anointing blends.
Our Rosewood Leaf - Organic essential oil uplifts the spirit with a fresh, bitter green-woody, slightly camphoraceous, and delicately rosy aroma. Rosewood Leaf is a sustainable alternative to oil distilled from the wood of endangered Rosewood trees, one of the most trafficked botanicals in the world. Now, through the sustainable harvest and distillation of the leaves, cultivated trees as young as four years old can yield an aromatic oil that closely mirrors the chemical profile of the wood-derived oil. Offering a soothing sense of purification, Palo Santo, or “holy wood,” has a woody, fruity/balsamic, sweet terpenic aroma with citrus, mint, and soft spice nuances. Our Palo Santo essential oil is distilled in small batches from sustainably sourced, aged, naturally fallen wood gathered from the forest floor along Ecuador's Pacific coast, ensuring no harm to living trees. Ideal for diffusers, room sprays, meditation blends and perfume, Palo Santo’s comforting scent invites peace, strength, and inspiration.
Siam Wood delights the senses with a warm, creamy, and pleasantly balsamic aroma with clean Opopanax and Cedar-like nuances and a drydown reminiscent of Rosewood. Our supplier is committed to sustainable and ethical practices, distilling only from wood that is ecologically harvested either from naturally fallen trees or reclaimed from furniture industry offcuts. Spent plant material is repurposed as mulch or fuel, and ethical trade initiatives help uplift the communities involved in its production. Siam Wood essential oil is well suited for use in diffusers, massage blends, outdoor sprays and topical preparations, however perfumers will adore this enchanting addition to the woody aroma family.
Warm and sweetly floral, with a deep, slightly animalic character, our Rose By-Absolute reveals lingering notes of tart dried fruit, tea, and leather throughout the drydown. A distinctively different take on Rose, it’s produced through solvent extraction of the spent blossoms left behind after the hydrodistillation of Rose essential oil. By upcycling the post-distillation material from our Turkish-grown Rosa × damascena, we capture a wealth of aromatic compounds too heavy to be carried by steam. This innovative process maximizes each rose harvest and offers a sustainable, cost-effective way to enhance your blends with the sensual complexity of Rose.
Similar to the classic Mysore Sandalwood from India, our Sandalwood - Plantation Grown has a deep, soft, sweet-woody aroma with a very long, full-bodied, balanced, extremely sweet and creamy-smooth dry down. Decades of over-harvesting, mismanagement of forests and illegal poaching has led to a severe population decline of the true, wild grown Indian Sandalwood species, Santalum album. Our Sandalwood - Plantation Grown essential oil comes from Santalum album trees that have been planted in Australia using sustainable practices. With strictly monitored production and continual replanting, the wood for this oil is guaranteed to be ethically harvested. Beneficial in cosmetics, soaps, aromatherapy and incense, the elevating aroma inspires an ambiance of peaceful contemplation.
