    Product Overview

Camelina Seed Oil - Organic is known as ‘Gold of Pleasure’ due to the radiant gold color of the seeds and their oil. Not to be confused with Camellia Seed Oil, Camelina is closer in composition to Flax Oil and is renowned for its high content of beneficial omega-3 alpha Linoleic acid – around 40%. High levels of antioxidants and vitamin E make Camelina a stable carrier oil and excellent choice in formulas for dry skin and hair.

A high proportion of both Omega 3 and 6 polyunsaturated fatty acids gives Camelina Seed Oil its excellent emollient and moisturizing properties, helping the skin retain moisture while supporting the skin’s own protective barrier against impurities and dehydration. With a smooth feel, lightweight Camelina lends conditioning properties to dry, mature, or congested skin without feeling greasy.

Camelina Seed Oil can be applied directly to the skin or added to products for after-sun, body and beard care, and facial serums, particularly those that help improve skin tone and the appearance of sun-exposed skin. As a popular addition to hair care formulations, it is clarifying in scalp preparations and adds glossy shine to dry hair. Formulators enjoy its beautiful golden color in conditioning and hydrating soaps, cleansers, and creams.

Part of the Brassica family, Camelina is a flowering annual plant related to mustard and cabbage and has been cultivated in Northern Europe since prehistoric times.[1] Growing within and near Flax fields, it is also known as ‘False Flax’ for its similar appearance and uses. The seeds have been used for centuries as a food crop and the oil to fuel lamps and improve the condition and shine of the coats of horses. Our organic virgin Camelina Oil is cold pressed from seeds grown in France, unrefined, and tested for purity.
