Chia and Cacay Eye Oil for Dry Winter Skin
Written By: Robin Lander
Winter has a magical way of transforming the landscape with beauty, but it sure can be tough on the skin. Cold temperatures, low humidity, and dry indoor heat are particularly harsh on the delicate eye area, often leaving skin feeling tight and looking fatigued. With thinner skin, fewer oil glands, and constant exposure to wind and weather, the area around the eyes needs extra care during the winter months.
Formulators, this is the season to reach for the most supportive, lipid-rich, high-performance carrier oils. We’re sharing a recipe for a simple eye oil designed for dry winter skin, built with three standouts: Chia Seed CO2 - Organic, Cacay Seed Oil, and Jojoba Oil, Golden – Organic. Together, they deliver targeted nourishment for this vulnerable area, without heaviness or fuss. Let’s take a closer look at what makes each ingredient so special.
Chia Seed CO2 – Organic: Omega-3 Barrier Support
Renowned for its exceptionally high concentration of omega-3 alpha linolenic acid (over 60%), Chia Seed CO2 – Organic helps support the skin’s own protective barrier against moisture loss and impurities. CO2 extraction yields a potent, nutrient-dense oil that feels remarkably lightweight and silky on the skin.
In eye care formulations, Chia helps keep the skin soft and moisturized while improving the appearance of elasticity and uneven tone. When winter dryness takes its toll, it helps smooth the look of fine lines, leaving skin looking plump and bright.
Cacay Seed Oil: Retinoid-Rich Super Emollient
Cacay Seed Oil (pronounced Kah-KAI) is having a well-deserved moment, widely celebrated as a natural alternative to retinol. It’s packed with retinoids (precursors to vitamin A), prized for their ability to smooth, clarify, and brighten the skin’s appearance. In fact, Cacay has three times the retinoid content of Rosehip Seed Oil, 50% more vitamin E than Argan Oil, and around 70% beneficial linoleic acid.
With this impressive profile, Cacay Seed Oil is a superior choice for the eye area, offering deeply nourishing, emollient properties to help lock in moisture without overwhelming delicate skin. Regular application of Cacay helps skin appear even toned, supple, and more rested.
Jojoba Oil, Golden – Organic: Skin-Compatible Stability
Our Jojoba Oil, Golden - Organic is an ideal base for eye care formulations due to its unique composition of wax esters that closely resemble human sebum. Along with a significant amount of vitamin E, Jojoba provides ‘breathable’ non-occlusive moisture that gently hydrates delicate and sensitive skin without feeling heavy or greasy.
Highly resistant to oxidation, the inclusion of Jojoba also improves the overall stability of your formulas. And its lightweight texture lends excellent glide to roller ball formulations.
Now, let’s put it all together!

Apply twice daily to clean skin. Glide the roller gently over the skin around the eyes, starting at the inner corner and moving outward toward the temple. Roll along the brow bone if desired. Avoid getting the oil directly in the eyes. Use clean fingertips to softly pat into the skin.
