Overview
Cardamom CO2 Total Extract
Our Cardamom CO2 total extract, deep yellow in color, has a rich, spicy-sweet, warm, highly aromatic, slightly cineolic aroma with a balsamic-woody, increasingly sweet drydown. The extreme tenacity and complex aroma of this CO2 extract captures the organoleptic virtues of freshly crushed Cardamom even more completely than does the steam distilled essential oil of Cardamom.
A member of the Ginger family, Cardamom is one of the oldest essential oils known in perfumery. Presently, it is used extensively in cosmetics and perfumery to add a warm, fresh, and invigorating quality. According to Ayurveda, Cardamom enlivens the heart and refreshes the senses.1 With a lively array of oxides and ester molecules, it is well suited for massage blends, chest rubs, and in diffusers.
We find that the CO2 extracts of the spice oils are preferable in aroma to the more commonly available steam distilled versions and are especially well suited for natural perfumery purposes. Their energetic and vibrant aroma is true to that of the fresh plant material. We use Cardamom CO2 in our Patchouli Amber Spice to give it an added lift – it is one of our very favorite spice oils for use in perfume compositions!

Customer Reviews for Cardamom CO2
- Jumps out Review by Jolie

Rating I decided to sample and review at the same time I got probably 20 oil’s and this is one of the last ones on the strip. When I put it out when I opened the bottle it jumped up and filled my nose. Very fresh warm citrusy high low middle notes it’s just all over the place beautiful light airy. I would put it in drawers cupboards to make the room smell nice this isn’t just a perfume this is a lifestyle choice(Posted on 5/7/2019)
- Lovely, complex spice that evolves Review by Heather

Rating Well, I just spilled a bunch of this all over my fingers, so I thought I should take this opportunity to write a review.(Posted on 8/9/2017)
I love this cardamom! It's spicy, sexy, and bold upfront, and as it develops, it has just the tiniest touch of minty freshness dancing around the scent. In the drydown (at least when coating my fingers) it takes on an almost fruit-like, juicy, round quality. It's quite mouth-watering. I like to blend it with a little bit of the 5% fossilized amber oil to give it a smoky, leathery background.
- It's comfort in a bottle Review by Christy

Rating I fell in love with cardamom when I started making elderberry syrup and it was in the recipe. I found myself using a pod in my tea blends I drank often. I was looking for something new and really felt I would enjoy this as a new oil in my collection. Boy was I ever happy when I smelled this one! I wore it today for the first time all by it’s self. It certainly enticed my senses. I even had a woman tell me how great I smelled, and that never happens. I was so excited to tell her what it was. I would not suggest anyone digesting any CO2’s. It smells so good, I can see why someone would want to. This oil lasts for a long time and I can’t wait to start blending with it. It’s very warm, down to earth, and has a strong spicy flare. LOVE THIS OIL!!!!!!(Posted on 3/23/2017)
- Kitchen Bliss Review by Stephen

Rating I have loved cardamom as a spice for decades. I used cardamom in my apple pies and candied yams. For a fantastic aroma, Cardamom CO2 really brings the memories of grandma, helping mom during Holidays, and warm kitchen days in winter to mind. From what I have read of others' reviews, it's important to remember to let the oil or extract "breathe" before making any decision on how you enjoy the aroma. I used a test strip; dropped a bit of Cardamom CO2 on it and left it alone for a couple of hours. The scent was so warm, soft, and calming that I was transported to those days of my youth in the kitchen with mom/grandma. Good Stuff, Maynard!(Posted on 9/3/2014)

- Energizing, enlivening Review by Dave

Rating The Cardamom CO2 is a must in massage mixtures and muscle rubs. It packs a sharp bite that is completely energizing and enlivening. Also, lovely to mix with cinnamon and nutmeg, and spray around the kitchen. One of my personal favorites. Thank you, Eden!(Posted on 3/5/2013)
- Fresh & spicy Review by Delicious

Rating I'm beginning to blend oils for scent, rather than just using them in creams and salves for skin healing qualities, and needed an EO with some spice, but not too sweet. I've always loved taking a whiff of freshly ground cardamon - so uplifting both physically and emotionally. I was very pleased when this EO arrived and I twisted off the cap and took a deep breath. It's just what I was hoping it would be.(Posted on 2/18/2013)
