Frankincense, Oman - Rare

Our Frankincense, Oman – Rare is a very rare oil, indeed. It was hydro-distilled in the year 2000 under watchful eyes over a 17 hour period, creating a concentrated, deep and full-bodied aroma. The oil has been aged to perfection and is a very precious, very spiritually attuned oil available in limited supply.

Prized for millennia, Frankincense, Oman makes the perfect addition to sacred blends, and has been shown to slow and deepen the breath while focusing the mind, making it very beneficial to apply prior to meditation. It gives refreshing yet warm notes to natural perfumes and makes a great fixative. It is also very useful in skin and body care products designed for mature skin and scarring due to its regenerative properties.

Each Frankincense oil that we offer is of very high quality and we recommend all of them. From a traditional view, one would perhaps choose one of our steam distilled Frankincense essential oils, particularly for aromatherapy purposes, because the CO2 extraction process is newer. However, both of our Indian andSomalian Frankincense CO2 oils offer to the natural botanical perfumer a more complete aromatic profile with higher, brighter top notes and deeper, more complex bottom notes than the steam distilled Frankincense oils.

No compound has been found that has the typical odor of Frankincense. Perhaps this accounts for why, in its rich past, this aromatic material was more valuable than gold. Perpetuated in certain religions of the world for centuries, one wonders at what point did religious leaders directly attribute to frankincense the feelings of calm produced when burning their incense. Frankincense in Medieval French means “real incense.”

Aromatic Profile: Intensely deep, warm, radiant, slightly spicy and full-bodied wood/resin/incense undertone with subdued citrus topnote; aged to perfection. Outstanding fixative properties.

Appearance: Clear, transparent, mobile liquid.

Use: Aromatherapy, Natural Perfumery, Incense.

Blending Suggestions: Add drop by drop to add a full-bodied base note to your blends. “Gives delightful effects in citrus colognes and “incense” type perfumes; an important ingredient in Oriental bases, “powder”, floral and violet type perfumes.”  (Steffen Arctander, Perfume and Flavor Materials of Natural Origin.)

Blends Well With: Bergamot, CinnamonClary Sage, Clove, CypressGalbanum, Geranium, GingerJasmine, Juniper, Labdanum, LavenderMandarinMyrrh, Neroli, Oakmoss, Palo Santo, Patchouli, Pink Lotus, Mandarin PetitgrainRosemary, Sandalwood, ThymeTobacco, Vetiver, Ylang Ylang. We also recommend blending the different types of frankincense oils we carry to create a unique, complex frankincense accord.

Safety Considerations: Dilute before using. A patch test should be performed before use for those with sensitive skin.

Customer Reviews for Frankincense, Oman - Rare

tea in the sahara Review by Cheryl
I ordered the tiny sample, but I wish I had ordered more. This is both crystalline and deep, a warm blue fire. I find frankincense to contain lemony-sap notes. This projects nicely is is a rich smooth sap-y scent that is utterly appealing on its own. I imagine it would blend beautifully with almost anything.

Oman Frankincense Review by B
Having smelled a couple of different types of frankincense, i find most others to be a lot sweeter and lighter, Boswell sacra in particular has an almost "anise" sweetness somewhere in the equation, which i find very unappealing.

When i first ordered a sample of this (5-6 drops) the SECOND i took a sniff i Knew INSTANTLY i HAD to have MORE. no doubt. If you're looking for a real treasure This one is for you.

WOW!! Review by miketambo
Just ordered a sample to try it, and see why it's more expensive. Just incredible. Deep and full-bodied as described. This is a high quality oil that you must sample. (Posted on 3/5/13)
