Product Overview

Our Cardamom CO2 total extract, deep yellow in color, has a rich, spicy-sweet, warm, highly aromatic, slightly cineolic aroma with a balsamic-woody, increasingly sweet drydown. The extreme tenacity and complex aroma of this CO2 extract captures the organoleptic virtues of freshly crushed Cardamom even more completely than does the steam distilled essential oil of Cardamom.

A member of the Ginger family, Cardamom is one of the oldest essential oils known in perfumery. Presently, it is used extensively in cosmetics and perfumery to add a warm, fresh, and invigorating quality. According to Ayurveda, Cardamom enlivens the heart and refreshes the senses.[1] With a lively array of oxides and ester molecules, it is well suited for massage blends, chest rubs, and other aromatherapy and perfumery applications.

We find that the CO2 extracts of the spice oils are preferable in aroma to the more commonly available steam distilled versions and are especially well suited for natural perfumery purposes. Their energetic and vibrant aroma is true to that of the fresh plant material. We use Cardamom CO2 in our Patchouli Amber Spice to give it an added lift – it is one of our very favorite spice oils for use in perfume compositions!

Energizing, enlivening

Rating

The Cardamom CO2 is a must in massage mixtures and muscle rubs. It packs a sharp bite that is completely energizing and enlivening. Also, lovely to mix with cinnamon and nutmeg, and spray around the kitchen. One of my personal favorites. Thank you, Eden!

Fresh & spicy

Rating

I'm beginning to blend oils for scent, rather than just using them in creams and salves for skin healing qualities, and needed an EO with some spice, but not too sweet. I've always loved taking a whiff of freshly ground cardamon - so uplifting both physically and emotionally. I was very pleased when this EO arrived and I twisted off the cap and took a deep breath. It's just what I was hoping it would be.
