Overview

Indian Jasmine Absolute

Our Jasmine Absolute from India is intensely floral, very sweet and tenacious, with a deep richness and a somewhat musky and coumarin-like undertone. It is a bit richer/denser than our Jasmine Absolute from Egypt and harmonizes well with almost all other essences. Due to its powerful aroma, we recommend diluting it before blending with other oils. Only a hint of this precious oil is needed to impart elegance, balance, and smoothness to perfume creations.

Jasmine has been among the principal ingredients of more than 80% of all quality perfumes and a third of all men’s fragrances.1 The sensual aroma is exhilarating and playful, and according to Patricia Davis, brings together the fiery dynamism associated with the masculine aspect (yang) and the soft earthiness of the feminine (yin).2 The uninhibited aroma evokes lightness and joy, setting the stage for physical awareness and imagination. It is no wonder that the flowers, thought to awaken the spiritual nature of intimacy, have been used traditionally in some cultures to decorate the bed of newlyweds. In magical spiritual traditions, Jasmine is used as a devotional anointing oil and is worn for blessings and good luck.3

One look at the chemistry of this seductive aroma explains a lot about its sensual appeal. Amid a bouquet of complex flowery esters, including methyl anthranilate, is the queen of floral aromas, indole, but only if smelled in low concentrations; it occurs naturally in human feces and, at full strength, has an intense fecal odor. At very low concentrations, however, it is intensely floral and appears in some of the sweetest blossoms – for example Narcissus, Jonquil, Honeysuckle, Champaca and Neroli – and is highly regarded in natural perfumery. The aroma of Jasmine is said to blend with virtually everything and is an indispensable ingredient for the natural perfumer.

PLEASE NOTE: Jasmine Absolute is intended for use in perfumery only. If you are interested in using Jasmine for aromatherapy applications, please see the high-quality Jasmine Organic Extract that we carry.

Equal to but different in that not as green as co2...this is just so much more than the grandifolium everywhere else... this is more grounded than others and works on my headaches like the sambac...I like all of the eden jasmines...all of them. If this is the dark side then, the co2 is the light side . lovely....

Ahhh, this is a pleasing jasmine grandiflorum. It is sweet, full-bodied, and has a smooth, buttery quality. A very versatile floral absolute to have in your collection.

Dark, Lush, Fruity & Creamy Review by

Whereas Jasmine Sambac is like the sultry beauty that quietly awaits, Indian Jasmine is the temptress openly demonstrating her passion. Jasmine Sambac is dark, green, and has a "silk stocking" like effect, while Indian Jasmine is dark and has a fruity banana overtone with lush cream clotted density. This is Jasmine on full blast! I really can't make any comparisons of these two with the Egyptian variety as I have not yet tried it, but I can imagine it is nice still.

Another interesting point to note is that this is the Jasmine variety that Ylang Ylang is often compared to, as you can smell the similar banana overtone in both.

As you would expect from a jasmine grandiflorum absolute, this is rich, indolic and dense smelling. Indisposable for the perfumer, and reminiscent of perfumes past, when there was much more freedom to use these costly naturals in much higher quantities. Eden Botanicals' Indian jasmine absolute is very nice!

This jasmine grandiflorum from India is rich, round, warm, and sweet-a classic jasmine and really nice. The top notes are fresh, floral, slightly fruity, and sweet and it has subtle undertones of musk and spice, It is the jasmine I always use for my blends. A must have necessity for a perfumers palette. It blends with almost anything and everything. I highly recommend it. It is a amber brown mobile liquid with great tenacity.

Lovely Jasmine Review by

This is a lovely jasmine. It is quite heavy and has a true jasmine scent with none of that horrible solvent smell that I have smelt from quite a few other jasmines that I have tried. It's creamy, deep and hypnotic.

This is one of the heavier jasmines I have ever smelled, but it is gorgeous as a base for lighter florals. Makes a daffodil like scent with the Neroli Fine that you offer.
