Overview

Organic French Lavender Essential Oil

We are happy to offer a premium, certified organic (USDA, NOP) French Lavender essential oil – it is of the highest quality and aroma and distinct from many we have sampled. Within the characteristic Lavender scent, this pedigreed oil has its own distinct nuances of sweet herbal and rich green notes that hail from the ideal soils and southern climates of the famous French Lavender fields.

In consumer products, true Lavender (called interchangeably Lavandula angustifolia, L. officinalis and L. vera1) is often adulterated or replaced by the less expensive, but higher yielding hybrid Lavandins. This substitution only approximates the complex and robust aroma of Lavender and offers a much narrower spectrum of aromatic constituents. 2 Although this iconic plant thrives in poor, rocky soil in many parts of the world, France is still considered to be the premier growing region, and is the source of two of our other best-selling Lavender essential oils (High Elevation and Wild).

In aromatherapy, Lavender is one of (if not) the most commonly used essential oils due to its general availability, modest price, versatility and universally pleasant scent. Lavender has been an integral part of fine fragrances for centuries – it is a middle to top note, can be used as a perfume modifier, and can also help mask unpleasant aromas of oils you want to use in blends. It is a popular addition to skincare preparations of all types, and is a favorite in diffusers, outdoor sprays, massage blends, and in relaxing baths.

Lavender oil has a cooling and drying aroma that is said to help calm the body, mind and spirit. This is one oil that should be part of everyone’s collection!

best lavender I've tried Review by

Out of 8 different lavenders I've tried this is the only one I've tried that smells like fresh lavender that grows in random people's front yards around here.

That includes 2 different French lavenders from another company.

If you like fresh lavender at least try a sample of this.

At first I thought this was just normal lavender but upon comparison, I realized, 'just normal lavender,' is actually hard to find; all 7 others I've tried smelling like trash by comparison.

This is such a warm lavender. Sweet floral a dry hay like quality. You can really imagine a field in France getting loads of sun in the summer. Definitely a comforting scent. I’m tempted to add just a touch of vanilla or chamomile and spray on my pillows before bed

Walking through a Lavender Field in Provence Review by

This lavender is divine. Not the strong camphor of some lavenders, nor the sweetness of others.....this is juuuuuust right. It is smooth, fresh, uplifting and calming at the same time.
I've used it in a fougère blend with base notes of oakmoss, tobacco, vetiver, a middle note of tonka bean, and top note of grapefruit. This tied it all together in a unisex can't-stop-smelling scent.
Also, I burned my finger pretty badly on hot a cast iron skillet last night, dabbed some of this on, and right away I could feel the soothing effect. The burn is completely gone this morning.
So not only is it magically medicinal, a whiff of this takes me right to France on a clear blue sky summer day as I walk with a basket through a lavender field in Provence.

My favorite lavender, with its true lavender scent! Review by

This Lavender France, organic is my favorite lavender from Eden Botanicals, with its true lavender scent! High Elevation did indeed come very close, but has a slightly higher note. This lavender is mellow and smooth, but clean and fresh with no other notes but lavender. My only complaint is the scent isn't terrifically long lasting (such as a vetiver or patchouli), but it is unforgettable. If you like lavender you simply must have this. It has all the sunny breeziness of a field overflowing with lavender. LOVE it!

Simply the Best Review by

I've sampled all of EB's lavenders and purchased a half-ounce each of my three favorites -- France Organic, Mailette, and High Elevation -- but the France Organic is the one I pick up time and again. It has a beautiful classic lavender fragrance that comes through sweetly in every blend I've made, and the tenacity can't be beat. I'm back to buy a full ounce this time!

Lovely Lavender Reminiscent of the Flower Review by

This is such a pretty lavender oil with a true scent reminiscent of fresh lavender flowers from the field. Other lavender oils I've tried have a more camphoraceous scent, which is okay if you are wanting something for colds and flue but not one of my favorite notes when looking for a floral scent. I am delighted to find this french lavender does not disappoint.

I used it in cold process soap and am happy to report that it did not accelerate trace. This is my first time ordering from Eden Botanical and like what I've tried so far. I'll definitely be stocking this oil on a regular basis.

Lavender is probably my most favorite scent and this oil is like breathing in handfuls of dried lavender flowers. It is rich, deep and beautiful. Absolutely a joy!

I tried samples of all the lavenders here and several from other sellers and this one won out big time! It's my favorite with high-elevation in a close second. As another reviewer mentioned, I think it is the honey-like sweetness in it that I like. I mostly use it in night-time blends with mandarin and a little roman chamomile to help our toddler settle down or in my own night-time back rub blends.

Honey-like scent Review by

I got the lavender sampler and narrowed down my choice to three. This one won out simply because there is a honey-like sweetness to it. I use it for the typical uses, but find myself dabbing this one behind my ears just to enjoy the sweet scent.

Just received a sample of the french organic lavender and it is by far the most beautiful smelling lavender I've ever experienced. For years, I have been ordering lavender from all over the world to sample the different varieties and I have finally found the one I've been looking for! It smells just like lavender flowers....fresh, soft, smooth, relaxing.
