Product Overview

Salvia sclarea is a perennial native to the Mediterranean region, growing wild in France, Germany, North Africa, parts of Italy, and also on the Crimean Peninsula. It is cultivated in France, Bulgaria, Hungary, Russia, England and the US. The green parts of the plant and especially the flowering tops yield the essential oil containing more than 250 constituents, up to 75 percent of which is linalyl acetate, the ester form of linalool.[3],[4] The abundance of this ester makes Clary Sage a valuable addition to calming baths, diffuser blends, massage oils, chest and belly rubs, beard oils, and scalp and skin preparations.

tea!

popping the cap off the bottle, the first and most enduring impression i get is like burying my face into a jar of loose leaf tea--herbal, earthy, rich, with a very slight citrus snap. it's one of those scents that's so strong i can almost taste it; it hits the back of my throat crisply, and leaves a feeling in my mouth like bergamot.

deep and green

Rating

In comparison to other clary sage's I have tried (not from EB) this clary sage is not as minty, but with a top note similar to fresh cut grass (or perhaps something I can't identify, but bright and green) and has a very deep, soft, well rounded sage smell, earthy like clean, rich dirt.... Don't take that the wrong way bc dirt can smell very good. On the dry down it reminds me of the Violet Leaf Absolute though not as prominent. It opens up nicely, long lasting and I think it's a lovely oil for anyone a fan of clary sage or herbaceous scents.
