Product Overview

Because of Virginia Cedarwood oil’s fixative value, it is used extensively in the perfume industry, including the manufacture of soaps, room sprays, household products, etc.[3] If you’re looking for a suave, mellow, and complex cedar or wood note, this Virginia Cedarwood essential oil is well worth a sniff – and then some!

Please be aware when purchasing cedar essential oil. Atlas Cedarwood and Himalayan Cedarwood are the most notably used for aromatherapy, have a more balsamic aroma, and are the only true cedars typically available. Texas Cedarwood and Virginia Cedarwood are actually junipers and although quite useful, are different in aroma and effects. Also, Cedar Leaf oil (Thuja occidentalis, also known as American arborvitae, Eastern arborvitae, Eastern white cedar, swamp cedar, or Northern white cedar) is from a type of cypress that is best used very carefully or not at all due to its toxicity.[5]

smells like Texas cedarwood, just a little bit more funky.

Dry and elegant

Rating

This a beautifully reddish colored cedarwood with expression and depth. It is invaluable in the natural perfumers organ where it can be used in a multitude of blends enhancing spices, incenses and of course other dry woods.

perfect!

if you're looking for a pencil shaving note, this is not for you, but if you're looking for a comfortable, complex, nostalgic cedar note, it doesn't get much better. where atlas cedarwood can't shake its connotations to my nose (furniture polish and pet store woodchips), virginian cedar is antique: old hand-hewn cedar trusses, a grandmother's cedar closet, an heirloom cedar chest. its drydown beautiful and inviting, all unimposing wood-warmth with a balance of sweet and smoke.

OMG!

Rating

Wow! Just received some today and I just cannot stop smelling the stuff. This IS the quintessential woody note that I've been looking for, and it's funny because I've been overlooking it the whole time in favor of trying other woody notes, which turn out not to be what I needed for the intended purpose. While it does indeed have that pencil shaving or wood chips smell, it is just so mellow and smooth. There is really nothing harsh or off putting about it at all, so the staff who wrote the descriptions for this product wasn't lying about the quality. Call me crazy but to me this smells more exotic than atlas and himalayan cedars, which is funny because the latter two are the TRUE cedars. Although virginia cedarwood lacks the warmth and balsamic smoothness of the true cedars, there's just something about that mellow "pencil shaving" edge that lends itself to work better in an exotic oriental woody blend. All in all, behind sandalwood this is my new favorite woody note.

Complex, Sweet, Smooth...

Rating

What a gorgeous Cedarwood note. It is rich, deep with a light sweetness and just so damn smooth. I cannot emphasize this enough! It can work for both men and women. It is completely unisex with the feminine and masculine in perfect harmony. Get this if you want a suave, clean cedarwood note for your blends.
