Overview

Organic Lemon Eucalyptus Essential Oil - Unsprayed

Our fresh organic Lemon Eucalyptus essential oil has an enlivening yet calming aroma that is very fresh, cool, lemony, with rosy, citronella-like notes and a sweet balsamic, slightly floral drydown; it has a softer, less cineolic aroma than our other Eucalyptus oils. Eucalyptus citriodora (now known as Corymbia citriodora) is part of a group of oils (including Litsea Cubeba, Melissa, Lemon Verbena and Citronella) that feature the soft, lemony aldehydes – distinctly different molecules from limonene, the tart, citrus-sourced terpene. Lemon Eucalyptus oil adds these lively, lemony (non-citrus) top notes to natural perfume formulations.

For hundreds of years, the Aborigines of Australia have used the leaves of Eucalyptus for various incense and skincare applications. Commonly known as lemon-scented gum, the tree grows to a height of 80-130 feet, with white to coppery pink bark, glossy green, lemon-scented, lance-shaped leaves and white flowers. Once endemic to north-eastern Australia, it has been widely introduced in tropical and subtropical regions of the world to be used as an ornamental, for reforestation, and for timber, pulp and essential oil production.

Unlike other cineole-rich Eucalyptus oils, Lemon Eucalyptus contains very little cineole and typically 70-85% citronellal. The fresh and pleasant aroma of Lemon Eucalyptus is well suited for diffusion into the air, outdoor sprays, foot lotions, chest rubs, and oily skin preparations. It is uplifting and refreshing in soap and fragrance formulations and a favorite of massage practitioners for addition in muscle, joint, and post-workout massage blends.

At first it was a little stronger than expected however if used diluted in a diffuser I would give it a strong lemon like scent but it also with the eucalyptus which should not be confused with actual eucalyptus oil may take a little adjustment in how used but actually is a clean scent depending on your environment or use. If careful and used as described it is a good unexpected addition. I will recommend this for some. Just start lighter than you might expect: neither eucalyptus or lemon but does leave a clean scent.

I've been looking for a Eucalyptus on and off for years now that smell like the Eucalyptus trees that I grew up around. This is it! Not only is it nostalgic, it is so fresh and clean smelling. I am instantly grounded and at peace when I smell this. Of all the Eucalyptus varieties this is my favorite. If I were a Koala Bear I would eat this!

Wrong oil? Review by

I can't help but wonder if I was shipped the wrong oil - the description and reviews would lead me to believe the Lemon Eucalyptus is the least medicinal / camphorous of all the choices at Eden Botanicals, however the oil I received with the Lemon label is the more strong smelling, medicinal and camphorous of the two Eucalyptus I purchased (by far). I'm sure it's fine for certain applications but I had been looking for the most mellow Eucalyptus for a bit of aromatherapy at the office and this smells waaaaayyy too strong.

RESPONSE FROM THE OIL ROOM:
Thank you for writing about your experience with Lemon Eucalyptus. We suggest that you try a procedure to assess the aroma of this oil (and other Eucalyptus oils on hand) that you may not be aware of – by using a fragrance tester strip (found in our Containers and Accessories category) for each oil in order to expose the oil to air and the evaporation process. This is the best way to evaluate how long the aroma lasts, how strong it is, how it changes over time, etc. and is especially applicable when comparing oils. We strongly encourage you to try this procedure if this hasn’t already been done, since smelling oils directly from the bottle or vial does not allow for an accurate aroma assessment. Smelling an essential oil from the bottle can be quite unrepresentative of that oil’s aromatic potential.

Of all the lemon-scented essential oils this one by far is the best, because it doesn't have that foul cooked herb note like the others do. It doesn't have an overwhelming camphoric note common to eucalyptus species either if that is a concern.

Real Lemon Eucalyptus Chemotype of Eucalyptus Tree (No Blend of Lemon and Eucalyptus EO) Review by

This lemon eucalyptus is the real deal unlike some brands that create a blend of lemon and eucalyptus EO. This Lemon Eucalyptus is a chemotype of the real eucalyptus tree and has its own medicinal properties. Due to the soil, temperature, moisture and climate, this oil produces a lemony scent that is high in citrol. This one works really well for respiratory issues, arthritis, poor circulation and the list goes on. This oil has a sweet lemony fresh scent with a hint of woody notes. This oil is like a citrusy espresso because of it awakening effects when inhaled. This oil will blend nicely in feminine floral and citrus perfumes.

I normally wouldn't think of using eucalyptus in a fragrance blend due do its strongly medicinal quality, but this lemon eucalyptus is delicate and really lemony. There are lot's of potential uses for this beyond using it as medicine. It really has a lovely, fresh, citrusy fragrance.
