Overview

Organic Bulgarian Lavender Essential Oil

This smooth, full-bodied and complex Lavender is from Bulgaria, a country known for growing and distilling some of the most beautiful Rose oil in the world. Eastern European Lavenders can develop very distinct characteristics from Mediterranean grown plants and show a depth of character present in many oils from this region. This exceptional Bulgarian Lavender oil has a low camphor content.

In consumer products, true Lavender (called interchangeably Lavandula angustifolia, L. officinalis and L. vera1) is often replaced by the less expensive, but higher yielding hybrid Lavandins. This substitution only approximates the complex and robust aroma of Lavender and offers a much narrower spectrum of aromatic constituents.

In aromatherapy, Lavender is one of the most commonly used essential oils due to its general availability, modest price, versatility and universally pleasant scent. Lavender has been an integral part of fine fragrances for centuries – it is a middle to top note, can be used as a perfume modifier, and can also help mask unpleasant aromas of oils you want to use in blends. It is a popular ingredient in skincare preparations of all types, and is a favorite in diffusers and in baths for relaxation.

In Ayurvedic terms, Lavender oil has cooling and drying aroma that is said to help calm the body, mind and spirit. This is one oil that should be part of everyone's collection!

I ordered this as a sample to compare with Lavender Maillette and others.
This Bulgarian Lavender is my definite favorite! Crisp, clear, yet smooth and full bodied, as noted in the description. But in addition to the expected (but very mild) cineolic element present in all lavenders, this one has two unexpected notes to me: in the initial whiff, I got a distinct licorice/anise-like note, which gave way quickly to juicy citrus notes! This one is sublime, and I just love it!

So I have ordered this one and the French organic lavender... I think I enjoy this one a tad bit more. It just has a slightly stronger/robust scent then the French. I am very happy and love both of them, great organic lavenders. The wild lavender is exceptional as well!

I am so picky with Lavender essential oil but I like this one. I use Lavender oil all the time. It's one of the most important oils in my medicine box. My little cut heals so much faster. I can't wait to try another type of Lavender oil!
