Overview
Organic Coconut Pulp CO2
Our organic Coconut Pulp CO2 Extract offers coconut enthusiasts a robust and amazingly tenacious gourmand aroma that is irresistibly warm and creamy. Since traditional pressings of culinary Coconut oils have little flavor or aroma, until the recent appearance of this extract, availability of a naturally sourced, rich Coconut aroma has eluded both perfumers and natural products manufacturers alike. CO2 extraction of fats offers the multiple benefits of low production temperatures, short extraction time and no necessity for added chemical preservatives.1
We think Coconut Pulp CO2 is a logical choice for after sun lotions, and for applying to dry, dehydrated skin and hair after swimming in chlorinated pools or immersion in hot tubs. Composed of medium chain triglycerides (MCTs) – skin-nourishing fatty acids – Coconut Pulp CO2 is of course soluble in fixed/vegetable oils, but there will be a small amount of non-dissolvable (insoluble) fats remaining when blended into perfumer's or 190 proof alcohol. These fats can be removed with chilled filtering. At cooler temperatures, the normally clear Coconut Pulp CO2 will solidify, becoming opaque, but will liquefy readily when the bottle is placed in a warm water bath.

Aromatic Profile: Rich, warm, creamy, buttery aroma of coconut; has amazing tenacity. An excellent addition to products where a warm, tropical aroma is desired.
Appearance: Colorless, transparent, slightly viscous liquid at ambient temperatures; nearly opaque, white, quick-to-melt solid mass at cooler temperatures.
Use: Body / Skin Care, Natural Perfumery.
Blending Suggestions: Dilute and add drop by drop to your blends until the desired effect is achieved. Depending on product type, the suggested amount of Coconut Pulp CO2 to use can be between 2% to 30% of the formula.
Blends Well With: Almond, Bitter, Ambrette, Balsam of Peru, Basil, Black Currant Bud, Boronia, Cardamom, Cedarwood, Cinnamon, Clary Sage, Clove, Cocoa, Coffee Bean, Cognac, Davana, Frankincense, Galbanum, Geranium, Ginger, Grapefruit, Jasmine, Lemon, Lime, Litsea Cubeba, Neroli, Oakmoss, Orange, Patchouli, Rosemary, Rosewood, Sandalwood, Spikenard, Vanilla, Vetiver, Ylang Ylang. Arctander, describing Coconut Absolute, states "Floral fragrances such as jasmine, lily of the valley, lilac, ylang ylang, etc. and in particular gardenia as well as fruity notes may be excitingly lifted or modified with this unusual perfume material."2
Safety Considerations: None known. Dilute before using. A patch test should be performed before use for those with sensitive skin.

Rating just smells like extra virgin coconut oil just concentrated 5 times(Posted on 3/2/2024)
- True coconut scent, but mild Review by Jesse

Rating This is a very good-smelling coconut scent. It's exactly what I want from "coconut" and it smells like fresh coconut macaroons. It makes me want to drink a pina colada. For all that it's a delicious scent, however, it is not a very intense smell for the quantity required and I've found the need to use rather more than expected (by volume, approximately 2/3-3/4 of the current blend I'm making) in order to get it to stand out very much. (Admittedly, the other constituents of the blend are very strong on their own, so it could just be this blend which is proving difficult.)(Posted on 8/20/2023)
- Delightful Coconut Aroma Review by SH

Rating I absolutely love this Coconut CO2; lovely, heavenly scent and amazing texture. I immediately wanted to create a face butter or balm. I hope you will transfer it to a jar for easier access.(Posted on 12/10/2020)
- Strong Scent Review by Alison

Rating I don't understand how anyone thinks this is too faint. I decided to blend it as is, without diluting it, based on some of the reviews. Far from being subtle, it dominated. Plenty of aroma to work with. I will dilute it in the future.(Posted on 10/24/2019)
It smells just like a fresh coconut, without the overly sweet, perfume fake scent of perfume oil. Just delicious.
Eden Botanicals delivers again!

Rating I've been reading previous reviews just to see if anyone else enjoys this as much as I do. Indeed there are positive responses below! This Coconut Pulp CO2 is like coconut oil right out of the jar. Warm, rich, milky, fatty. Mmmmm! Hm!(Posted on 4/17/2018)
It's like the oil I rub on my body straight out of the Trader Joe's Organic, Cold Pressed, Unrefined Virgin Coconut Oil jar. Heaven and coconut- tropical in a bottle! The one downside is (as mentioned in the EB description) that it does not blend readily with perfumer's alcohol (I use 190 proof organic grain alcohol). I am chill filtering like crazeballs but these fatty deposits are insane! There's like tiny little snow globe snow glitter bits... (except not glittery) stuck all over the walls of my glass beaker. I wish I could include a video of what is happening in my lab. Haha! The filtering for this little sucker is insane! I hope the end result still captures the complete effect once it's filtered. I'd pay extra to buy it already filtered in perfumer's alcohol. Alas, this is part of the "Artisan" craft I suppose. Haha!
- Hardly any aroma Review by Lawrence

Rating I bought a supply of this oil when a customer requested I stock it. The aroma is very weak and similar to regular coconut oil. My customer has since complained so I will refund her. Please remove this oil from your listings as you will get more poor reviews. All the other oils I have bought from you have been exceptional but this misses the mark by some way.(Posted on 4/17/2018)
From the Oil Room:
Hi Lawrence - We’re sorry to hear that one of your customers was unhappy with their purchase. It is possible that your customer was accustomed to synthetic coconut fragrance oil which would be more powerful than a natural extract. Our Coconut Pulp CO2 is an enhanced version of standard coconut oil. It is Cold Pressed Coconut Oil that has undergone a three-step extraction process that serves to enrich aroma (concentrates the delta lactones responsible for typical coconut flavor).
- CocoDifference Review by Anita

Rating Comparing to the co2 coconut pulp when it was first released by Eden, to now, their is a definite scent difference. The original smelt more deeper and complex, smoother, more buttery or creamier, utterly amazing! In contrast to the current one, which almost smells more lighter, almost as if it was a different type or age of coconut, or a mix of different coconuts, or diluted, slightly more green, less deeper and does not last as long somehow - i can't put my finger on which of these it is!. I keep smelling my old one, nothing compares. Which is a shame, this current one is still a beautiful coconut scent, but preferred the original by far.(Posted on 1/23/2018)
From the oil room:
Hi Anita - We’re sorry to hear about your disappoint with the current lot of Coconut Pulp CO2. And we agree! The original lot of this product purchased in 2014 had a deeper aroma that we preferred. Unfortunately our manufacturer had to change their production process and their raw material source back in 2015 which resulted in the change in aroma. Since then, quality has remained consistent. Feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.
- Soooo coconutty! Review by Brian

Rating I love this coconut CO2! It's just like opening a bag of shredded coconut and taking in a big whiff! Although I like the traditional suntan lotion smell, this is true, pure, actual coconut fragrance, nothing like suntan lotion. I've had the coconut absolute in the past and found it really weak in aroma, so this was a revelation and a wish come true. This is a must for 'foodie' fragrances and of course, tropical ones, and would be great in Orientals too. It goes really good with the aforementioned essences, especially with vanilla, sandalwood, and ylang ylang, but also goes really well with frangipani, white and gold champacas, white ginger, tonka bean, and citruses, especially lime! And it lasts long too, it's basically a base note.(Posted on 6/19/2017)
- Barely there fragrance Review by Susan

Rating Just received this product today. The fragrance is true, but, so mild as to be worthless. My virgin coconut cooking oil has a stronger smell at a much lower cost. I will not order this product again, but, will continue to purchase other exceptional products at Eden Botanicals.(Posted on 4/19/2017)

- Another CO2 Hit Review by Rebecca
-
Rating Hits the mark dead center for a true, complete coconut. Easily twice the strength and tenacity as organic extra virgin coconut oil; clean, luscious, nutty, buttery, warm, AWESOME. Would love to sample some Seaweed Absolute to pair with this :)(Posted on 4/21/2016)
- True to Scent Review by David
-
Rating The smell is exactly like true coconut and coconut oil. It is a thicker extract and will harden when refrigerated. I tried using it in the shampoo I make but the smell barely came through and I used more than I usually do with a product whose use is marked in perfumery. Be prepared to have to use a lot of this in a water-based mixture.(Posted on 3/5/2016)

- Mouth watering Review by M.

Rating What can I say - this is fabulous, and has me craving coconut confections. Warm, full, smooth fragrance of coconut, I picture just lightly toasted coconut. I am not generally into gourmand notes at all, but this smells sooo good... and I know someone who is going to go bonkers over a fragrance featuring this. A beautiful product.(Posted on 7/26/2014)
