Overview

Organic Distilled Lime Essential Oil

Our organic distilled Lime essential oil is soft, zesty and tart with a touch of sweetness – it will keep much longer and will not oxidize as rapidly as cold pressed citrus oils. Excellent in natural perfumery and a truly fine organic citrus!

The origin of Lime, Citrus aurantifolia, is believed to be the East Indian Archipelago where it is found on almost all its islands. From there it is believed to have spread east to the west coast of South America, and west to East Africa, Iran, Egypt, Arabia, and southern Europe. It is very likely that Lime seeds from Europe were brought to the West Indies and Florida after the Americas were colonized, and from there Limes spread to Texas, Mexico, California, Central and South America.1,2,3

Like many Citrus oils, the invigorating aroma of Lime oil is comforting and familiar yet thoroughly uplifting and refreshing.3 It is elevating in a diffuser, while the addition of Lime oil in massage blends is said to evoke an ambiance of serenity. Lime oil is also used in skincare preparations for oily or congested skin, hands and feet, leg lotions, and chest rubs. As a bright top note in natural perfumery, it can help bring balance to overly-sweet perfumes.

Not what I was expecting Review by

Smelling it, it smells like a cleaning solution with a slight lime essence. I threw it away. I'll stick with cold pressed. Uck - I still have a headache from smelling it.

Less Natural Review by

I tried this expressed lime and the distilled organic lime. The distilled organic one smelled like a cleaning solution, and did not remind me of the enchanting zing of a freshly cut and squeezed lime. I am a big fan of the natural smell ever since learning about al pastor tacos in Mexico. I tried to put a small amount of the distilled version on a tissue to see if it would smell more realistic after it evaporated and was less concentrated. It calms down to the scent of an artificial lime popsicle.
The expressed version is a bit closer to a natural scent. Candy-like, similar to a lime sorbet, which is better than the cleaning solution impression I got from the distilled.
I cut an actual lime just now for comparison. The freshly cut lime reigned supreme. I smelled a lime essential oil last summer that was quite a match to the natural aroma, but alas I forgot to write down the brand.

This lime oil is perfect. Blows the competition away. It has a bright and sparkling character. In mixed drink, it performs admirably whether its lime aid or citrus based cocktails. You will be impressed.

You have not experienced lime, until you've sampled this! Review by

This is an amazing lime! I have a cold pressed oil (Mexico) that was nice, but after sampling this one, I will never purchase another lime oil again. The scent is so fresh, vibrant and uplifting. It reminds me of key lime pie. With Eden's pricing, I can also purchase a 1/2 oz for the same price as the 10ml from other companies, and this is a far superior oil.

If you like lime, you absolutely MUST try this one. It's truly amazing.

A very cheering oil Review by

This is an oil I loved so much that I immediately ordered a two ounce bottle after I got my sample. Since then I haven’t used it as much as I expected, but I know I will. It is wonderful diluted in jojoba with a bit of ylang ylang and nutmeg. So very beautiful. It really does smell like green lollipops, in the best possible way! It’s delicious and cheering and very very sweet. Not at all like expressed lime, which I personally love for its tartness.
