Petitgrain Bigarade - Organic
At one time, this essential oil was extracted from the very small, unripened green fruits of the bitter orange tree, thus the name Petitgrain, or "little grains". Now, however, Petitgrain essential oil is distilled from the leaves and small twigs.
The aroma of Petitgrain essential oil is a fresh, citrus-floral with a slight woody undertone. It is valuable for helping one to relax and sleep. Unlike citrus oils, Petitgrain oil is not photosensitizing, and can be used like its relative, the more expensive Neroli.
Our Petitgrain Bigarade is even fine enough to be used as a Neroli substitute.

- I have been flatly unimpressed with petitgrain. I was reluctant to order this but was intrigued by the claim that it could sub for neroli. It is a lovely petitgrain. I will add jasmine and sweet orange. (Posted on 5/23/13)
